Start of the Easter Hols

It has been a busy weekend. On Saturday I wasn't to good (headachey) in the morning so I stayed bed as I was to go out in the evening. The Grandaughter came to stay with Mum as the Daughter and I were going out together. We had a belated celebration of the Daughter's 35th birthday and 6 of us went from here to the dog racing at Hove. We were joined by one friend from Brighton, but unfortunately others couldn't make it which was quite disappointing. We had a good time non the less and all said we would do it again it was good fun. Got back about midnight and the Daughter (and Grandaughter) stayed over.

On Sunday it was the Daughter's turn to not feel good, she hadn't slept well which is unusual when she is at mine, so she stayed in bed. I did some sewing continuing the medieval kirtle I started a short while ago and it now needs another fitting before I can proceed. I also cut out a petticoat (now know as a skirt) for the Grandaughter and also one for myself for some Napoleonic costume I will be making and also did a bit in the garden. Unfortunately my back is now telling me all about it .

In the evening I relaxed with my knitting and the tv and watched the first part of Silent Witness which I like but don't often watch as it is always in 2 parts and with the shifts I work I often miss bits and so I don't bother. it was all in all a good weekend.

I have now managed to cut out the medieval kirtle that is going to be made for a friend. The lining, which I shall sew first, is going to be in the blue and the outer in the terracotta. When it is finished it should actually be reversible. The next step is to pin and fit the blue and then sew it and the do the same with the terracotta. Watch this space. Well here we are Wednesday already, Hump Day as one of my friends calls it.
Yesterday I shot up to my daughter's to measure a friend for a medieval kirtle (dress to those of you not in the know) Now I need to find the time to sort the pattern and get it cut out. For those of you who don't already know I have pretensions of being a seamstress and my daughter and I make costume, mostly medieval but with a few others thrown in (see our facebook page "History Stitchery" http://www.facebook.com/pages/History-Stitchery/227351787300111for which I will attempt to make a permanent link on the side of the blog one day when I can work out how to do it!
This time last year we even had a small exhibition at Bexhill Museum of our costumes and some of our reenactment kit and artefacts.www.bexhillmuseum.co.uk
On Monday I also acquired a flyer for my spinning wheel (Thank you to Shelagh in Battle Wool Shop. battlewoolshop.co.uk) so now all I have to do is find the time to learn to use it! By the way does anyone know where I can get a Round Tuit?
